Get A Load of this Beady-eyed Jackboot

I hope Puddin'-Tips Ronnie DeSantis enjoys having El Drumpfo mop the floor with his beady-eyed face in the GOP primary. The Cult of Personality has made its choice and DeSantis ain't it. In order to pry the GOP from the Cult of Personality, DeSantis would have to have a personality himself. Instead he comes off like a damp towel. I hope 2024 is the worst year of his life. He deserves it.

There's been this overplayed, barely-a-kernel-of-truth media narrative that this beady-eyed jackboot is "the smart one," but if DeSantis had some ace card up his sleeve, the time has already come and gone to play it. Last summer, Gov. Puddin-tips was routinely beating Trump in GOP polls and now he's down 20 points. "The smart one" doesn't have anything up his sleeve. Whatever. Biden will have an easier time with Donnie than Ronnie. I look forward to an eventful 2024.

Zombie Zeitgeist

Finished The Last of Us awhile ago. Not sure if it *quite* lived up to the hype I was hearing, but yes I liked it quite a lot. I've often wondered if the dystopian zombie genre is so popular these days because, "things that should have died long ago but still somehow continue on" are such a huge part of our current zeitgeist. We've got zombie ideas, zombie policy solutions, zombie political parties, zombie religions, zombie socioeconomic systems. No wonder fighting that which just seems unkillable, that which seems to Keep Coming Back, resonates. As horror, that sh** is day-to-day, even AFTER the screen time is over.

. . . and on Someday the 15th of Never . . .

. . . and on Someday the 15th of Never 5,000 word "think pieces" will start to emerge in more thoughtful, if traditionalist, conservative news and opinion sources. And these think pieces will explore, at length, how and why conservatives need to "understand the concerns of urban voters," and try to "reach out to them," with ideas that meet their more urban, progressive needs! And these think pieces will go viral, and millions of conservatives across America will open their minds, and really try to *see* urban voters.

This was originally posted just after Election 2020. Still waiting for those 5,000 word think pieces.

Wake Up to 2022!

Good morning!

If you care about "having a democracy" I hope you are fully aware of where things stand right now. I think Joe Biden is a decent person, but his approvals are in the tank, currently. If the GOoPers take the House and Senate this fall, they have made it abundantly clear that: A GOP Congress Will Never Certify a Democratic Presidential Victory, No Matter How Obviously They Win. The RepubliCons will achieve this through gerrymandering, voter suppression, willful re-imagining of constitutional norms, and their long-term packing of the Supreme Court, which is essentially a finished product.

Do you want to know how a 2024 election with a GOP-led Congress will play out? Watch what happens down in Georgia when Stacey Adams appears to win the Governorship this November. I'd put down my life savings that their over-the-cliff GOP state legislature will "having something to say about that," from the the statehouse. This is it friends. We could very seriously have one-party rule in this country, even if that party is clearly a minority. Are the Democrats perfect? Absolutely not. But we have a much bigger fish to fry in 2022. If you want to know how amazing one-party rule is - check out how well having the PRI in charge for 71 years worked for the good people of Mexico.

Here's a group of folks at Fair Fight - Georgia, who are doing the thing, down in Georgia - right now. They need your support now, not just in October.

Remembrance of a Year Ago

This time a year ago was the worst of times, with no "best of times" to go with it. COVID cases were at an all-time high here in Illinois, the vaccine was still more or less a rumor on the winds of some day, El Drumpfo and his army of orc-people cult-devotees were going ape-shit all over social media with paranoid delusions of stolen votes, even while none of the "evidence" that was ever presented was of the "will stand up in court" variety, as they lost case after case after case; the insurrection of 1-6-21 was already being presaged by its organizers and the Regime as they called for a protest that would be quote "wild" unquote . . . things were decidedly very Not Good here in the USofA during the agonizingly long Election process, through the Holidays and thereafter. I have been remembering sleepless nights, doomscrolling, etc. At least it got me feeling creativish.

You can have your own home. You can have your own business. You can have your own friends, and lovers, and interests. But you may not have your own reality. Sorry. Nope. Reality has to be shared with others.

So, on a day, when the whole world says: "The sky is blue today," you DON'T get to just get to come back with: "Nyuh uh - it's orange. And what is blue? And what is orange anyway? Can ANYONE really tell the difference between blue and orange nowadays anymore? Who's to say what is blue, and what is orange?" You can *try* to play little games with people's heads, and *try* to sow doubt as to the blueness and orangeness of things. You may even really believe that that blue-appearing sky over your head is somehow in fact orange. But at the end of the day, blue is blue. And orange is orange, and they don't much care either way about human head games you might play.
